Martel is a newspaper columnist, tv and radio presenter. In 1999 she was the first graduate trainee for The Sun, Britain’s biggest daily newspaper, and spent time in London, Glasgow, Manchester, and Sydney covering sport, news, features, motoring and travel. She spent four years as a reporter for the paper’s highly successful Showbiz column, Bizarre and went on to become Scottish Showbiz Editor, interviewing many major Hollywood stars. She is now a freelance journalist and has written a column on being a single girl for Scotland on Sunday, the country’s biggest-selling broadsheet. She now writes a weekly opinion column for the Scottish Sun, which has over a million readers, and makes frequent appearances on TV and radio in the UK as a showbiz expert and pundit. She also indulges her passion for fast cars as host of Drivetime, STV’s primetime motoring show.
Martel divides her time between London and Scotland. Her first novel Scandalous has been acquired by Michael Joseph/Penguin, and was published to wonderful reviews in April 2010.
