imageimageRos Barber was born in Washington DC and raised in England. She is the author of three collections of poetry, the latest of which (Material, Anvil 2008) was a Poetry Book Society Recommendation. Her numerous poetry residencies include Arts Council England, and Pallant House Gallery in Chichester.

Her short fiction, which won prizes in the Asham and Independent on Sunday short story competitions, has been published by Bloomsbury and Serpents Tail. Her poetry has appeared in Poetry Review, Poetry Wales, Poetry London, London Magazine, The Guardian, the Independent on Sunday and many other publications; it also features in anthologies published by Faber, Virago, Anvil and Seren.

Her first novel, The Marlowe Papers, was published by Sceptre in May 2012. In 2013 it was nominated for the Women's (Bailey's) Prize, and won the Desmond Elliott Prize and the Author's Club Best First Novel Award. In 2011 it was a joint winner of the Annual Calvin & Rose G Hoffmann Prize for a distinguished work on Christopher Marlowe

Ros's second novel Devotion will be published in Spring 2015 by Oneworld.
