She has worked in a Buddhist therapeutic community in Scotland, written contraband essays for cash in Berlin, and helps run a big philosophy festival near her home in Hay-on-Wye, where she lives up a hill with her children.

Her essay ‘Mushroom Season’, inspired by youthful psychedelic misadventure and the mountains behind her home, was published by Random House in January 2014 after being chosen as runner-up in the Financial Times/Bodley Head Essay Prize.

She is working on a PhD thesis about nonsense and metaphysics.

Into The Woods, her first book, will be published by Faber & Faber in Spring 2016.
