Christoper's first book about the Western Front, Trench Fever (Little, Brown), was praised by the Oxford historian, Adrian Gregory, as showing 'more imaginative sympathy with the people of 1914 than any number of histories and novels', while Focus magazine said it achieved 'something that even the best history books cannot manage, to show that WWI is still relevant to everyone, and will continue to be so.' Christopher has also written and presented radio documentaries about the Great War for the BBC, where he work as a news editor.
Christopher's book Roger, Sausage and Whippet: A Miscellany of Trench Lingo from The Great War was published by Headline in October 2012. Trench Fever was re-issued in a new edition by Little Brown in Autumn 2013.
